When to Plant
For Spring planting, it is best to plant within a month after the final frost of the winter season.
For Fall planting, plant the seeds after the first frost to eliminate any chance of germination. Planting in the Fall gives you a jump start on Spring blooms.
Where to Plant
Though many California wildflowers do tolerate some shade, and a few actually thrive in it, the vast majority prefer a sunny environment. Wildflowers will generally grow in all but the most difficult conditions.
How to Plant
Clear the area and soften the soil before planting your seeds. For larger areas, use a seed spreader to create a better dispersion of the seeds. After the seeds have been sown, lightly compress the seeds into the soil about 1/4″ to protect from birds. Keep the soil moist until germination begins.
How To Care For Wildflowers
Although California Wildflowers are easy to grow and take care of, there are some steps to keep them looking beautiful. Regularly weed to ensure your wildflowers are getting the nutrients they need. Water your plants during long dry spells.

Spectacular Flowers
I bought wildflower seeds on Amazon for the first time a couple of years ago. A cheap, small packet that did great. In 2023, I did it again, and to put it mildly, I got what I paid for. They were total junk. This year, when hunting for seeds, I saw this California Wildflower Seed Mix. It was a lot more expensive, but I did not want to get burned again. After I planted them, I thought, here we go again, as they grew so slowly. I was frustrated. However, when they blossomed, they were well worth the wait as the photos can attest. They have been blossoming for about two months now with different flowers coming up all the time. As well as distributing the seeds into the flower bed as the heads die this year, I will certainly buy these again and actually buy more and place them in different flower beds around my yard. 1000% satisfied

Beautiful flowers
Many lovely plants have emerged from these seeds. I planted them outside and Iâve observed almost every kind of bloom shown on the packet. The only ones I havenât seen are the Palmer Penstemon and the Wallflower. Iâve identified the evening primrose and the Shasta daisy but they have not yet bloomed; note that some of these flowers may not bloom until the second year. Depending on where you live, some of these will thrive more than others. The California bluebells flowered for me but then quickly died, and the lupines sprouted but died before flowering. The coreopsis grew easily and flowered prolifically, as did the scarlet flax, the clarkia, the blanketflower, and the California poppy. Although not shown on the packet and not typical to the area, columbines also sprouted where I planted these seeds.

I bought FOUR packets (about $80) and I live in SoCal and have lots of plants and trees and flowers in the yard… but nothing bloomed from these seeds, except some tiny white flowers that looked like weeds; nothing like the the picture!

They just keep getting better each day!
I started growing these flowers LATE in the season. This is also my first time ever growing anything. We just moved into a house where the previous owners let her dogs go potty on the concrete then would spray down bleach and rinse it into the small flower bed edges. It was gross and the dirt needed some TLC. I dug up the first 2 inches of soil replaced it with cheap regular dirt and sprinkled these on top. Pressed it all down with my shoes and watered it nearly everyday. These pictures really don’t do them justice and there are so many tiny buds that are getting ready to bloom! Including the CA Poppies! ððð PS for any first timers like me, Google Lens has been a lifesaver for identifying which flowers are growing! Even from the baby plant stage. ð±

Easy to plant and great results!
Highly recommend these seeds for anyone looking to bring lots of color to their yard. I kept a strip in front on my fence for wildflowers and am not disappointed with the first spring bloom! Lots of pollinators are in and out of the patch and itâs great watching different flowers bloom and fade.FYI Iâm in zone 9b and these were planted in the fall last year. Fall was pretty but spring is when the mix starts to shine. I overseeded to see what sticks, so I used two of the mixes in my front.

Small to medium size package of seed probably just enough to do a medium to a large backyard if only filling certain areas with wildflowers. I’ve included a picture that hopefully shows the quantity in the package regardless of the 54,000 seed claim.

I am really excited about getting these California wildflower seeds for my best friend. She visited California not too long ago, and she came back talking about the beauty of the state. Maybe the 22 different kinds of flowers will remind her of the glorious beauty she saw that week. I think at the very least, they will put a smile on her face, and that has the added benefit of making me happy as well.
