It does what it says it does: tabletop heat.
Like: It’s pretty easy to assemble – give yourself a 1/2 hour, you’ll need less but book that time in case. It does what it says, makes heat for a table. It’s not going to warm you up on a winter night but for a cool summer / fall evening, it’s fantastic.Didn’t like: One set of screws to attach one of the sections were too large for the pre-drilled holes. Mildly frustrating.Back to Likes: I called the company with zero expectations of anyone answering the call but was pleasantly surprised when it was and the person on the other end was incredibly helpful. They put in a claim and did their best to sort me out. I ended up picking up some smaller diameter machine screws at the hardware store and fixed it on my own for the tune of $2.00 which I was fine with. They called to set up a return but I declined as I fixed it myself. Virtual high-five for their efforts. And yes, it will burn a 1 Lb propane canister up pretty quick but what do you expect? You want heat? You need fuel. I hook mine into a 20Lb tank which makes it way more affordable.

    Quality pro
First of all I not sure why some reviews on this item says it is hard to light. It is hard to see the pilot light when it is ignited during the day time but I have had this for about two months and I have NEVER had a problem lighting it. I will admit that the flame is not that high but I did not want a large flame as it is on a coffee table on my back porch. In the past I had propane fire pit and it smoked the ceiling above the fire pit. Do yourself a favor and get a hook up for a 20 lb propane bottle if you want to enjoy this any length of time believe me, I would not consider using one of the small bottles because it is more trouble changing them often than it is worth. This is a well made product and so far I am very pleased with it.

    NOT EASY TO ASSEMBLE
Otherwise the heater functions as expected.

    Not happy!
I got it in and put it together with no issues. I also bought the propane tanks when I bought it. After 3 propane tanks the 4th would not screw in. The tank is the same as the others. No damage at all but will not hold the tank. The heat output is pretty good but you burn through the 1 lb tank pretty fast.

    Heats the entire enclosed patio
This was a recommended product from a friend who said it beat “Mr. Buddy” at heating the patio on cold nights. I purchased the heater and acc. hose. the assembly was straight forward and all the parts are vacuum packed so nothing is lost. Assembly took about 15 minutes with a screwdriver, and it was up and running in a jiffy. I’m impressed with the heat output, it covers a 10 X 10 foot enclosed area nicely and the heat is quite comfortable as opposed to a pit fire which is difficult to stand near. Build quality could be better and I think this will last a few years if taken care of. Turning it on is simple, open the supply of gas, turn the flame knob to Light, and press the ignitor. I keep it on the table so it is high enough to stand around while we smoke. Overall, it is highly recommended.

Great heater with mixed reviews because
This is a great heater, but there is a detail to know before buying. While this is designed to house and consume standard camp stove 1lb propane canisters it really doesn’t work well with such a small fuel source. You’ll get 30 mins of somewhat acceptable flame then just a weak flame. What you need is a full sized 20lb propane tank, and a commonly available adapter hose then it will work great. It puts out quite a lot of heat now, and it can run for hours without trouble!

    Broken after minimal use
It worked well for a little while, however one day broke after minimal usage. We used the heater under 50 times and we think the regulator is what broke. There’s no way to fix that besides buying a new one. I don’t think after being maintained/stored from elements there’s any excuse that it should break. I will say the heat it puts off is great but it is a taller heater than most. Unfortunately I liked it for the little usage we got out of it. Our neighbor has the same one but had his for a lot longer and his just broke too.

Works great, but it’s hard to light
I bought this heater so I could sit on my deck in the cold mornings, and read the day’s news on my iPod comfortably. Once it’s lit, it does throw a sufficient amount of heat, so that sitting next to it, in a comfortable chair, is pleasant. I didn’t bother even trying to use a 1 Lb propane canister in it… I knew instinctively that it would take a 20 Lb canister, so I bought the companion hose adapter. It’s hard to judge how long the unit will run on 20 Lbs of propane, but I’d say it’s roughly 25-30 hours, total.Assembly wasn’t difficult. The chief problem was lighting the unit. According to the instructions, you must rotate the control knob to the ‘pilot’ setting, keep it depressed for 30 seconds or so, in order for the lines to be purged, and then light it using the spark device (just like a BBQ). What I found was that I have to hold the control knob depressed for at least several minutes before the pilot light would be lit. Once the pilot is burning, you have to continue to hold the control knob depressed… presumably, because it heats an internal thermocouple that permits the pilot to stay lit while you turn the knob to either the LO setting, or the HIGH setting.I did call the factory for support. After 20 minutes, without a response, I took the option to leave my phone number for a call-back… but no one ever called.Despite the hassle in getting the thing to light, I still like the unit.EDITED TO ADD: I’ve dropped the review by one star, because of the continuing difficulties in getting the thing lit. However, I did devise a work-around: I keep a small propane torch nearby, the kind that uses disposable 1 Lb propane containers. By lighting the torch, and sticking the business end up one of the vent holes just below where the pilot light is, I can get the pilot to light immediately… no muss, no fuss. The unit continues to throw comfortable heat down towards my deck chair, on cold mornings. Evidently, the problem is the piezo igniter…. it’s either weak, or poorly positioned.

The igniter still works, with the past two that was the issue and had to light it with a lighter. Warm and toasty

    It is fantastic.

The 1 lb propane tanks only last for a few hours. If you want to get a full season out of this heater you will want to use a 20 lb tank for convenience and cost.It arrived quickly and was fairly easy to put together. The top “umbrella” is thin metal and was dented. Because our guests were coming that day we opted not to return it and instead gently hammered the dent out. It gives off really good heat for 3-4 people sitting close together. The heat doesn’t travel outward very far, it is more downward. We put tinfoil our table to reflect more heat.A great little unit. Should not be placed under a patio umbrella though.

It is a nice looking heater and relatively easy to assemble. But it would not ignite so is useless as a heater.

Works great for those cold fall nights on the patio with a glass of wine in hand
